Gathering Offering:
Is it possible to gather as Christians and not share our resources and abundance with others in need? We don’t believe so.
One of the most exciting and important aspects of the ELCA Youth Gathering are the months of preparation and “gathering” you have done with your youth and congregation. At the National Gathering in San Antonio, Texas in 2006 we made significant impact with Hamilton’s for Hunger to help the fight against hunger and poverty in the world. As we live “WIRED” connected to God , we want to reach out to others in our community and the world sharing God’s love through service and monetary gifts.
- Tuesday Night Offering: “Wired to our Community”
We challenge the participants of the Western States Youth Gathering to make 1000 hygiene kits for the homeless. So start collecting travel size toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion and deodorant. We also need shaving cream, socks, combs, washcloths and Band-Aids. This offering will be collected at our first night opening session. It will be exciting to assemble these hygiene kits over the next two days and deliver them to Beach Cities Interfaith Services in Huntington Beach.
Friday Morning Offering: “Wired to the World”
If every Gathering attendee contributes $10 the following organizations will receive funding to maintain life-giving ministries with people in the United States and around the world. New City Parish (Inner City LA), ELCA fire relief, and Invisible Children.
